We just wanted to remind all our members that the David Skinner Memorial Lecture is coming up soon, on Wednesday the 16th of March at 7pm in the Main Lecture Theatre at the Edinburgh College of Art. It promises to be a really interesting event – hosted by Jaqueline Osty, who will be covering a variety of landscape topics from large public places, public parks to urban landscaping – and we hope to see some of you there. Like any contemporary landscape architect, Jacqueline Osty attaches great importance to context, looking for the finest possible insertion of a new realization within a site. Known for her ability to translate landscape as structure with a strong architectural feeling, Jacqueline Osty has worked on many urban design projects for most of France’s major cities. She has developed a very contextual and sensitive approach to the site, working back and forth from large scale to small details. She pays close attention to creating links to anchor the project in the site with special attention to materials and plants. In her landscape design, Jacqueline sets out clear and simple lines in contrast to a richness of textures and materials.
