The 20-year masterplan has been conceived to enable RHASS to capitalise on their existing unique site and enhance their operations. The aim is to become the UK’s leading showground, with world class facilities capable of accommodating two million people on an annual basis. The plans focus around the creation of a high quality multi-purpose site which secures RHASS’s future and makes Ingliston the natural gateway to Scotland, where Edinburgh City meets the country and vice versa.
The site at Ingliston offers a regional context for change: a significant gateway to Edinburgh and Scotland, which provides a critical mass of integrated landscape and development. It presents an opportunity to take a meaningful, landscape led approach to planning and designing new development, especially for accommodating development on the urban fringe. As champions and custodians of our landscape and rural resource, RHASS plays a pivotal role in setting the agenda for this landscape.
