UK ‘water people’ are now looking at Scotland to see what we are doing about climate change adaptation in terms of water and Suds. Edinburgh City Council are promoting the Water Vision which is becoming formal council policy and has been written so it can be used outwith Edinburgh. It has the key Suds criteria:
- Above ground storage
- Manage the first 5mm of water ( ‘manage’ meaning treat and hold back not just hold back) at plot level
- Do so while ‘creating beautiful and healthy places and respecting the unique heritage of the city’
In addition Edinburgh City Council have updated policies coming in our new City Plan 2030 and Sustainable Rainwater Management Guidance (part of the Edinburgh design guidance) which is going to committee in October.
