Skyliner Residential Development, Edinburgh – A Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters Case Study

Submitted by Wardell Armstrong

The “Skyliner” development is located within Edinburgh’s vibrant area of Leith, approx. 3.5 miles to the north of the city centre. Supporting Comprehensive Design Architects (CDA), Wardell Armstrong has provided landscape feasibility, concept design and planning stage designs. The challenging site has provided opportunity for key strategic waterfront connections and future phased plans to accommodate the tram network. With high quality landscape proposals and strategic placemaking, the “Skyliner” opens up the previously unused waterfront and fantastic views over the Forth. The landscape proposals include an interactive landscape boardwalk to the Firth of Forth port, an extensive green deck with tree planters and natural play features, commercial unit external terraces and a strong tree lined frontage to Ocean Drive.
