Skills Scotland 2016 – Glasgow & Edinburgh

Skills Scotland Glasgow – LIS were invited to share the CITB stand at the Skills Scotland event  taking place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow on the 26th and 27th October and in Edinburgh on the 8th November  . This is the annual careers event for final year students in the West of Scotland.

James Spence Watson was ably assisted by Ambassadors Andrew McLatchie of DWA Landscape Architects and Robert Hewitt, Landscape Architect, Environment and Ground Engineering, AECOM.

Statistics – in Glasgow over the two days the statistics prepared by the event organisers showed that 84 schools, 327 teachers, and 3838 students attended. Positive contact was made with about 50 teachers who all were given Landscape Institute brochures.

In Edinburgh over the day the statistics prepared by the event organisers showed that 44 schools, 127 teachers, and 1386 students attended. Positive contact was made with about 40 teachers who all were given Landscape Institute brochures.

Immediate results – an invitation to attend a careers seminar at Bishopbriggs Academy that was attended by Andrew McLatchie and an invitation to visit the Scottish Rural College at Barony Campus in Dumfries to explain how a number of their courses could contribute to landscape design.
