Active Travel Conference 2019

Call for Content!

Walking Cycling Connecting Communities National Active Travel Conference will take place on 12 June 2019, at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange.

Following the success of the 10th anniversary event in May of this year in Perth, the 2019 event will seek to build on the breadth of organisations and voices represented at the conference.

With key topics in focus including Accessibility, Technology and Transport Poverty, the conference has a working title of:

“Widening Access to Active Travel”

We are interested in both high level strategic projects, and smaller more niche projects and issues which relate to this theme. Projects can be local, national or international.

Projects and presentations can take a variety of formats:

  • Presentation (normally lasting around 10 minutes, to be delivered in a session alongside other presentations of a similar length)
  • Interactive or Activity-based sessions. Depending on their content, these could be half-hour or hour long sessions, or drop-in sessions. Please outline in your submission how much space you would need to deliver your activity, and any technical requirements. Outdoor space (in the venue car park) is available as well as indoors.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, and should indicate which style of session you would like to be part of. You should clearly summarise the content of your presentation or session, and outline the learning/outcomes that delegates will achieve.

The organisers reserve the right to request or suggest amendments to proposed sessions.

The deadline for submissions is 12 noon Monday 26 November 2018. Abstracts should be submitted to with ‘National Active Travel Conference 2019 – Abstract Submission’ as subject.

All submissions will be assessed by a panel and successful submissions will be notified by Friday 1 February 2019 at the latest.
