LIS FOA2017 – ‘At Home with Landscape Architecture’ Doors Open Day

horner maclennan Landscape Architects: Doors Open Day – Tuesday, 5th September 2017

This year the LIS participated in the Scottish Civic Trust ‘Doors Open Day’ scheme under the title of ‘At Home with Landscape Architecture’ in Inverness with the aim of:

  • Showing best practice examples of residential design and place making from macro to micro;
  • Demonstrating to members of the public and other built environment professionals how the landscape profession helps create great places for communities to live as well as increase natural capital, integrate aesthetic issues with practical demands for safety, access, property value, water management, habitat improvement and health;
  • Providing an opportunity for young people to experience the exciting creative possibilities that the landscape profession offers as a career.

“We participated in the 2017 ‘Doors Open Day’ with no great expectation of attracting many visitors as our office is 6 miles out of town and it was a week day. We were therefore very pleased to have a total of a dozen people visit – their motivation was partly to see the B Listed Building in which our office is located and partly curiosity as to what landscape architecture involves – so that’s 12 more people who now understand what we do!”

The LIS would like to thank horner + maclennan for their participation in our most recent Doors Open Event
